Health Centers are Exempt from New York State on PAUSE Executive Order

Updated: Mar 22, 2020

The Governor’s issued an Executive Order "New York State on PAUSE", that closes all non-essential businesses and nonprofit entities statewide as of 8 pm on Sunday, March 22 and utilize telecommuting and work from home procedures to the extent possible.

Essential health care operations, including walk-in health facilities, doctor and emergency dental, home health care workers/aides, direct support professionals (DSPs), elder care, nursing homes, residential mental health care/congregate care facilities, hospitals, research/laboratories, and those providing medical equipment and supplies are considered an essential business, and are therefore exempt from the restrictions mentioned above. This includes your administrative offices and those employees necessary to support the essential functions of your agency’s mission.

Urban Health Plan, Inc. has kindly shared their staff letter with CHCANYS, which we turned into a template that you can easily modify for your own network and issue to all those staff who need freedom of mobility to report to work.
