SDOH Updated Vaccine Distribution Guidance: NYS Employment or Residency Requirement

The New York State Department of Health (SDOH) issued guidance reviewing existing vaccine provider requirements. SDOH’s new requirement is that individuals receiving vaccine must demonstrate not only eligibility within one of the current priority groups, but also proof of either New York State employment or residency. Individuals being vaccinated must produce proof of eligibility. If an individual is eligible due to their employment status, they must prove they are employed in New York State using an employee ID card or badge, a letter from an employer or affiliated organization, or a pay stub, depending on the specific priority status. Alternatively, employers or organizations can provide a list of staff who meet the eligibility criteria for vaccination. Individuals eligible for vaccination due to their age must produce proof of age and proof of residence in New York. Acceptable forms of proof include:

  • One of the following: statement from landlord, current rent receipt or lease, mortgage records, or

  • Two of the following: statement from another person, Current mail, school records.
