NYC DOHMH: Flu Season During COVID-19
New York City's health care sector must be prepared for serving a large number of individuals who may require medical attention due to viral respiratory diseases this fall and winter. A Second wave of COVID-19 with the 2020-2021 flu season will create a syndemic of respiratory illnesses. Little is known of the potential impact of viral co-infections with Covid-19 and the potential need for increasing testing and evaluation may place additional demands on the health care system.
NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) has released a new flu Dear Colleague letter, which is a compliment to the annual CHI on the flu and aims to contextualize preparing for flu season in the time of COVID-19. This resource may be of interest to community health centers.
