CMS Releases Medicare Telehealth Guidance for FQHCs
On Friday, April 17 CMS released new guidance on expanded flexibilities for FQHCs delivering services via telehealth during the COVID-19 public health emergency. The guidance clarifies the new payment for telehealth services, including how to bill Medicare, consent requirements for care management and virtual communication services, and the Medicare accelerated/advance payments. FQHCs will be reimbursed $92 for telehealth services delivered to Medicare beneficiaries. FQHC practitioners can provide these services from any location, including their home, as long as they are working for the FQHC and the service is approved as a distant site service under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule. The Center for Connected Health Policy has also issued a fact sheet on the new CMS guidance, which can be found here.
